Cats are part of the exhaust pipe further down under the car.

A crack in the exhaust manifold could make you fail emissions, and have power loss.

Not really a horrible thing if you have an exhaust leak as it doesnt matter where your exhaust comes out.

But is it cracked all the way through Start the car when its cooled off and see if you can feel hot air coming out from the crack.

If you cant feel it then its probably nothing to worry about.

The closer the cat is to the head the faster it lights or gets hot enough to burn things off.
